This beautiful soul has been busy adapting to life as a new mom. Dad now has two girls in his life with one of them deciding short sleeps at night is good. Baby Z knows being awake gives her more time with mommy and daddy. So my “I come to you” New York City in home family photography sessions is just what the doctor ordered.
Baby Z decided this was her time to snooze! This decision provides adorable photos of her snuggling with mom and dad. My in home family photography sessions allow us to move around the familiar comforts of home for our newborn. Also providing a sunny window, a chunky soft baby blanket and a crib giving us homey backdrops. Adding just a few elements of our storytelling in photos to capture this season of family life. By incorporating the comforts of home over a studio experience we kept baby calm. It also put parents at ease in front of the camera.
When you book a photography session with me I do the traveling. No matter the weather! Our shoot for this blusteringly cold winter day in New York City’s little Wayside neighborhood caused no stress for my family. When I came in they were warm and cozy in the outfits we had previously discussed for the shoot. We did use some winter apparel to mark baby Z’s winter birth season, but she was never exposed to this particularly frosty day. Using a fantastic clothing stylist I follow helps me with my color pallet for family shoots. Providing a link here for Whitney Ford who has a family fashion styling blog and writes about balancing motherhood with a career. If you have questions about what to wear, no worries I plan wardrobe with my clients for a successful shoot. Which insures timeless framable photographs.
Being a first time parent is daunting and I found myself chatting with my new momma about her newborn and my 30 y.o. daughter. Confessing I thought I would be an awful mom. However, I was able to give reassurances she would get through these early fears. Talking and laughing as moms made leaving at the end of the session hard. Sharing my mom’s heart with fond memories caused us to bond on a few things that we similarly experienced. Building relationships with my clients is a bonus perk of my career. Their photo gallery also proved to them – no experience required to model for my camera.
I coach a little as I move my clients through the familiar settings of their in home session. Who needs studio back drops when you have a comfy bed or sofa to lean into!
